Privacy
Epoca is a game, on the web and on iPhone. We collect the bare minimum to run it and never sell data. No ads, no accounts, no tracking.

What we process and why
- On your device: records, settings and a random player identifier stay in local storage (browser or app). No profiling cookies.
- World leaderboard, only if you choose to publish: the name you pick, your score and the random device identifier, used to keep one row per player. Name and score are visible to everyone. Basis: your consent, given by publishing.
- Moderation: names are filtered for swearing and insults. If you report a name we keep an encrypted fingerprint of your network (not your IP address) for 30 days, so that each person counts once. Basis: legitimate interest in a respectful leaderboard.
- Abuse limits: IP-based counters, deleted after a few minutes or at most two hours.
- Games with friends (web only): browsers connect directly (WebRTC) via the PeerJS server; other players in the room can see your IP address, as in any direct call.
- Images: they come from Wikimedia Commons, which receives your IP address when they load.
Processors
Vercel (hosting), Upstash (leaderboard database), Wikimedia Foundation (images), PeerJS (web games with friends only). Some are based outside the UK and the EU and process data under the required safeguards (standard contractual clauses / Data Privacy Framework).
Retention
All-time leaderboard names and scores are kept until you ask us to delete them; daily challenge boards disappear after 45 days. Reports after 30 days.
Your rights
You can request access, rectification, erasure (for example removing your name from the leaderboard), restriction and object to processing by writing to show email. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local authority.
Children
Epoca is suitable for everyone and asks for no personal data: a nickname is all you need for the leaderboard, ideally not your real name.
